We are all in this together...

Dear Neff Community,

I hope this finds you all well and healthy! Over the past couple of weeks, I can’t tell you how many messages to the community I have started to write only to have them be out of date before I reached the end of a sentence. The scope and speed of how things have been unfolding during the last few weeks is literally unprecedented in our time. The beginning of March we had a successful book fair, project fair, open house, and a restaurant night out at PJ Whelihan’s; ask anyone who was there, and they’ll say it feels like a year ago already.

The Manheim Township School District will be closed indefinitely until further notice. At this point, no one knows what is going to happen next. The Neff PTO had to make the difficult decision to cancel all PTO events for the rest of the school year. This includes, but is not limited to, PTO meetings, Go N’ Bananas, Movie Night, and Spring Fest. But, as a PTO Executive Board, we felt it was necessary to check in with all of our families to reassure them that even though we are not together physically, we are still a strong community.

On Monday, April 6th, our students started their virtual learning. Everyone has had to quickly adapt to the new circumstances caused by the sudden closing of schools due to Covid-19. The students have displayed an amazing resilience and flexibility during this transition. We want to give an enormous thank you to the tremendous efforts that our educators and school system has set in place. We appreciate you, we miss you, and we are here for you!!

During this time of "social distancing" we are looking at ways to keep the "social" aspect going, while remaining at a necessary distance.  We are also looking at ways of keeping our children's love of learning going strong through this period of disruption and will share anything we can find.  In the meantime, the easiest ways of staying up to date will be through our Neff Elementary School PTO Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/NeffElementaryPTO/) or our webpage (www.NeffPTO.com). You can also always email us with any questions at NeffPTOPresident@gmail.com.

Stay healthy and safe,

Kisha Johnson
