Neff Elementary PTO -- Quarterly Meeting

Wednesday, September 10, 2025 6:30pm in person


  1. Welcome & Introduction:  

    1. Meeting called to order at 6:31 PM


  1. Approval of minutes from last meeting—May 13, 2025

    1. Approved, 1st: Steph Gerber 2nd: Taylor Good


  1. Review and approval of bylaws

    1. Ruth Wagner made motion to add Social Media Chair as a formal chair position.

      1. Approved, agreement to add position formally to the bylaws and updates.

  2. PTO Update: Rachel Levine

    • Welcome Back to Neff!

    • Goals for the year:

      1. Raise $15,000 at Lion’s Quest!

        1. Previous goal was $12,500. This year's goal is $50/student

        2. Lions' Quest will be Oct 24 2025. Students will get notice to start fundraising September 22nd.

        3. Fundraising platform 99pledges. Each student will be able to make a personalized fundraising page for the event.

        4. Prizes:

          1. Any donation will get a shoe charm and bracelet- Teacher's to hand out after event

          2. Neff hats to class with top fundraising student in each classroom.

          3. Glow Party for any class that meets their class goal.

          4. Top fundraising class prize- TBD

      2. Increase parent involvement

        1. Biggest volunteer event that requires clearances.

    • Passive Fundraising

      1. Yearbook- TJ Stewart, Liz Scherer

        1. Additional volunteers needed to take pictures at events and gather pictures from classroom teachers

          1. Consider adding a "photographer" slot to volunteer sign up sheet.

      2. Restaurant Nights-  Sara Bowers

        1. Bierhall- September 25th, 5-8pm, 10% of all proceeds that night will go to Neff.

      3. Spiritwear- Sara Maysilles

        1. Currently happening- Ends Sept 14th.

        2. Feedback- some people wanting an option to add name to the back; sweatpant option; shirt sample sizes to be kept in the office for future events?


  • Upcoming Events

    1. Bingo! 

      1. Chair: Steph Gerber

      2. As of 9/10: $110 in sales

      3. Volunteer: Callers and Concession stands covered

    2. Bowling:

      1. Chair: Olivia Cordero

      2. Leisure Lanes:

        1. Last year $8, 2 games +shoes, people paid at the door

        2. This year $5/game, 2 games + shoes

      3. Dutch Lanes:

        1. $12/person, 2 hours of bowling + shoes,$4 will be given back to the organization.

        2. They would prefer pre-pay.

        3. Find out if people could pay at the door.

      4. Seeking a co-chair

      5. Will proceed with plan to do Leisure Lanes

    3. Picture Day 10/8- need volunteers with clearances

      1. Picture day 9:20am- 12pm, 2 Shifts

      2. Ellie and Liz Kavanaugh agree to volunteer

    4. Lion’s Quest

    5. Pottery Night-

      1. Chair: Ruth Wagner

      2. 11/15, 5-7pm

    6. Food Drive:

      1. Chair: Ruth Wagner, co-chair: Elizabeth Chandler

      2. Nov 17-21st

        1. Last year we did it as School Wide Challenge

        2. Year Before was a Grade Challenge

    7. Proposals for future:

      1. First in carpool line

      2. Magic Show

      3. Parent Pride Paw?

      4. Volunteer Tracking to earn Give and Get Ticket

      5. Food at PTO meeting


  1. Treasurer Report:  Steph Gerber

    1. See attached budget report

    2. Current Balance: $11,752.70, Bylaws require we maintain $10,000.

    3. Corporate sponsors: Kissell Hill Cabinets, Wenger Painting, Bible 2 School, KL Armstrong, Edge Up-2025, Albright Orthodontics, Lititz Orthodontics, Brentwood Builders, Packard Electric

    4. School District will be covering transportation and nurse expense.


  1. Principal Report:  Taylor Good

    • Great Start

      • Things are goi

    • School Comp Plan

      • NorthStar Team Meeting, 3 times a year, 8:00-8:45am

      • Email Mr. Good if you are interested joining

      • Discussed comprehensive plan

    • Neff Professional Development Overview

      • Staff differentiated development to support comprehensive plan goals.

    • Planters out front

      • Mr Good discussed with Superintendent

        • 100% supportive of PTO beautifying planters

          • You cannot paint them

          • Submit plan to the Superintendent

          • Are there outside organizations that could do it: Boy Scouts? Brethren Village? Girls on the Run? Local Garden Clubs? Artist in Residency? Key Club? Sustainability Club? 4-H?

    • Room Parents?

      • Make it optional to teachers

      • We'd like to have teachers include more messages in Seesaw. Send it to Ms. Reichl.

    • Back to School Night date

      • Feedback: open doors earlier, give a little time to get from one place to the next.

      • Some parents liked being able to meet teachers so early and feel more comfortable sending their kid to school.

    • Added to Agenda:

      • Artist in Residency

        • Past examples: writing of a school song, school mural

        • Know an artist who would want to do something creative for the school? Reach out to Mr. Good.


  1. SLAC (Superintendent’s Lay Advisory Council) Report: Lori DeTemple, Liz Kavanaugh, Matt Kavanaugh

    1. Quarterly Meetings

    2. PTO's can raise issues

    3. Examples of topics: food program updates, gym class heart rate monitors, demographics
