Neff Elementary PTO -- Quarterly Meeting

Tuesday, September 10, 2024 6:30pm in person

  1. Welcome & Introduction:  

    • PTO Board:  Rachel Levine, Whitney Tsakonas, Katie Warner, Lori DiTemple, Steph Gerber, Kelsey Danz (absent, Erin Checchia, Ruth Wagner

    • Attendee introductions


  1. Approval of minutes from last meeting—April 9, 2024

  3. Mission: Neff - A place everyone wants to be

    1. Focus on students, families, and staff feeling safe, having a sense of belonging and being engaged with school.

    2. Implementation for this school year so far: 

      1. Arc DAT, Compass Mark, Buddy Program w/ IU13, Partner classes, PBIS, Counseling Lessons, Morning Meetings, Safety, Acknowledgement Tree, PTO events

  2. Our first grant deadline is October 2. If the PTO is considering a request for the fall cycle, please let us know and we can advise regarding our new (online!) grant application!  However, many project ideas formulate over the course of the year, in which case you’d have the opportunity to apply during the spring cycle (April 2 deadline).

  3. MTEF is hosting a Family Movie Night fundraiser at Penn Cinema on Wednesday October 9, with several showtimes for The Wild Robot starting at 4 p.m.  Tickets are just $8 each!  All the details are here https://mtef.net/event/family-movie-night-the-wild-robot/

    1. Maintain ability to provide funding and events consistent with past years

    2. Increase teacher and parent involvement

      2. Revisit meeting times

        1. Daytime vs. Evenings

        2. Childcare availability

        3. Zoom option

        4. Should we poll our email list with alternate meeting options? 

    3. Improve corporate sponsorship participation

    1. Additional volunteers needed to take pictures at events and gather pictures from classroom teachers

  6. Restaurant Nights-  Sara Bowers

  7. Spiritwear- Kisha Johnson and Ruth Wagner

    1. Current sale began yesterday

    2. Contact Kelsey Hollenbach to access previously owned spiritwear
