Neff Elementary PTO -- Quarterly Meeting

Tuesday, May 12, 6:30pm

  1. Welcome & Introduction: 

    1. Attendees: Rachel Levine; Devon Reichl; Taylor Good; Ann Hamilton; Erin Checchia; Lori DiTemple; Tiffany Bender; Ruth Wagner


  1. Approval of minutes from last meeting— March 10, 2026

  1. Principal Report:  Taylor Good

    1. Shoutout for Teacher Appreciation

      1. Mocktails Mixology (Dan Seiders & Rachel)

      2. Ice Cream (Weaver Family)

      3. Traveling Tom’s Coffee Truck (Mr Good helped arrange)

      4. Zumba Class and Bundt Cakes ( Steph Gerber & Hillary Haskins)

      5. Halo’s Food Truck- It was Awesome! (Steph Gerber)

    2. Artist in Residence Quick Look

      1. Mr Stevenson’s lead the students in paper-mache masks

    3. Professional Development

      1. Differentiated professional development 

        1. 3 social/emotional

        2. 3 academic related

      2. Goals: iReady for Math; Building Thinking Creativity; Inclusive Practices; Restorative Practices


  1. Teacher Report:  Devon Reichl

    1. Thank you for Teacher Appreciation

    2. Girls on the Run- Pet Pantry Pet Item Drive

      1. Dog Food, Cat Food, Cat Toys, Gently Used Blankets

    3. Ann Hamilton- Community Outreach

      1. Donuts with Grownups

        1. Nice to be able to support students in multiple grades at one event

        2. Very crowded so wasn’t able to socialize with peer group necessarily since it had to move to gym

        3. Liked timing of the year to be able to connect with parents at the end of the year to exchange contact information.   


  1. Treasurer Report:  Steph Gerber

      1. Restaurant night- not finalized for the year 2 more events

      2. Spirit Wear- not finalized waiting spring totals

        1. We only added $1 to each item which is up to us

          1. Consider adding $2 to the cost

        2. Quality not the same as previous years 

          1. Tye-Dye more vibrant

        3. Ideas:

          1. Make “Class of” shirt with a MT logo 

          2. 4th Grade Shirts?

          3. Should we have new shirt designs

          4. Ann Hamilton to ask Nate


  1. Book Fair- not finalized

  2. Yearbook- not finalized, more sales may happen

  3. PayPal will not be used next year

  4. $5000 for give back to Neff

    1. Planters

      1. Work with High School students on design


  1. PTO Update: Rachel Levine

    1. Passive Fundraising

      1. Yearbook

        1. Contracted to pay for 200 yearbooks

          1. 140 orders

        2. Got more pictures this year

        3. Consider staggered pricing based on when being purchased

          1. End of December: $10

          2. Spring Purchase: $15

          3. Release: $20

      2. Spiritwear

      3. Restaurant Nights - Potential Changes for next year

        1. Spring Restaurant nights have been less profitable

        2. Move to every other month? Four a year?

          1. Consensus to doing less

        3. Like places that offer lunch as teachers 

        4. Ideas:

          1. Stoner Grill and Mini-Golf- September

          2. Knight and Day Diner


  1. Past Events

    1. Book Fair- Need to reevaluate who should shoulder costs and benefit from fundraising

      1. Jennifer DeSimon- offered to help chair

    2. Ice Skating

      1. 1.5 hours

      2. Would definitely consider for next year

    3. Movie Night

      1. Continue to let 4th Graders vote

      2. If a newer movie consider a larger theater or 2 theaters up front

    4. Spring Fest

      1. Timing: 

        1. 1st week of May

      2. Bounce House Provider

        1. Poor customer service

      3. Dunk Tank

        1. Bombergers 

        2. Fun, but cold

      4. Face Painters

        1. Pay for Face Painters

      5. Balloon Twisters

        1. Should we request more?

      6. Volunteers

        1. KeyClub

          1. Requested 20 but not reliable

          2. Overask next year

        2. How to recruit Parents of 4th Grade

      7. Give and Get Tickets

        1. Send home in advance

        2. Offer to print names for a small fee

      8. Budget:

        2. We had to purchase prizes this year
